The client operated an open cut coal mine in NSW. The sound power target for its fleet of Komatsu 930E trucks was set at 120 dB(A) to meet the boundary noise requirements. The current noise level was recorded at 124 dB(A), 4 dB(A) louder than the prescribed limits.

A site running Hitachi EH5000 trucks that were fitted with standard sound suppression mufflers was having issues with them due to high back pressure, cracking and falling apart prematurely.
